Using “Quizlet” to get extra points! (20/21)

Hello, my dear students!

Welcome to this new and bizarre academic year! Little by little, as weeks pass by, you will all feel more and more engaged and confident. In this post I’ll talk about something that I introduced during our first lessons; using Quizlet (and this blog) to get extra points in your final mark!

Quizlet is a webpage where teachers can upload different activities that students can use in their free time to review what they have learned in the classroom.

Then, how does it work? It’s actually very simple! All the activities are already there, waiting for you! How can you do them? First of all, you need to join the virtual classroom! How do you do that? Following this link from your computer to register!

If you have any problems joining the virtual classroom, please let me know as soon as possible! Please keep in mind that you MUST register using your name and surname!

Once you’re in the classroom, you will have access to all the activities I post, and then you can choose different ways of practising them! Your score will be saved along with your name, so I can check if you have been practising hard!

Now, why should you use Quizlet? First of all, it’s a great way of getting some extra practice and, secondly, it’ll help you get one extra point at the end of the term (if you use it with the blog as well!).

Now, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! (both in the classroom or here in the blog).

Over and out.

Assessment Criteria (20/21)

Hello, my dear students

It’s great to have you back! Last months have been very difficult and strange for all of us, and in these hard times we must be responsible and careful. Thus, we will all be able to move forward and start our new normality. And new normality means, of course, going back to school for another thrilling academic year!

Without further ado, this is the assessment criteria for our new academic course which has just begun.

  • “Irregular Verbs”: 10%
  • Quizzes of “Phrasal Verbs”, “Word Patterns” and PET activities: 10%
  • Three writings: 10%
  • Daily work and effort: 10%
  • Mid-term exams: 25%
  • Term exam: 25%
  • Mock exam: 10%
  • Use of the blog and the activities from Quizlet: 10%

If you make the numbers, the total score you can get during one single term is 110%, which is translated into 11 out of 10. So, yes! You can get more than 10 on your marks! But you’ll need to work hard.

During our lessons you’ll receive further information about the assessment criteria as well as some sheets to prepare some of the exams (“Irregular Verbs”, quizzes, etc.).

Over and out.

Still struggling with the phrasal verbs?

Hello, my dear students.

Most of you must be familiar with “The Simpsons”, one of the most popular TV shows of all time in which Homer & cia live funny situations every day. This TV show always makes me laugh, but now it can help you remember some of the most common phrasal verbs! Just take a look at the phrasal verb and the pictures to help you understand their meaning. Can you guess the meaning of all of them?

If you’ve guessed the meaning of all the phrasal verbs, don’t hesitate to leave a comment!
