“I wish I were a native-English speaker…”

Hi there!

Have you ever thought “how easy it would be if I just were a native-English speaker…”? Well, I have! But sometimes, even if it seems hard to believe, being a native-English speaker has disadvantages. When it comes to English for Aviation, native speakers might feel too self-confident on their own skills, and as we already know, an excess of confidence can be very harmful when it comes to flying.

If you have some spare time, please take a look at this great article called “The Safety Risk of Native-English Speakers” in which some of the problems that native speakers might face are mentioned, as well as the importance of using standard phraseology to avoid potential problems.
